Abstract

This study aims to show the contribution of Sheikh Abdul Rauf al-Singkili in
reconstructing the practice of blind salik in Aceh. In this study, a literature
method is used. All data are sourced from various books, journals, and
available documents. The analysis is carried out by describing all forms of
practice carried out by blind salik. The results show that the emergence of
the blind salik group seems to follow the teachings of Sufism in Aceh about
the doctrine of wahdat al-wujud initiated by Samsuddin Sumatrani. The
teachings are understood superficially by the community. The blind salik
group carries out religious teachings according to their perception without
knowing a clear basis. What is important for this group is to prioritize the
essence by pursuing the tarekat, but not equipped with sufficient
knowledge of sharia. Some people in Aceh are affected by this kind of
tarekat practice. Al-Singkili tries to find solutions to misunderstandings that
occur in society through da'wah activities that are wasaṭiyah and full of
wisdom.
